Renovation and extension

The large Hadron Collider (Large Hadron Collider - LHC) is the largest and most powerful particle accelerator in the world. It is also the last machine to be come enrich the CERN accelerator complex: its start took place on September 10, 2008. This 27 km ring is marked out of superconducting magnets, associated accelerator structures which increase the energy of the particles that are powered.

Following the presentation of its master plan 2015 / 2030, CERN submitted its master plan in fall 2015.

This master plan develops 4 major axes:
Urban 
Mobility
Environment and energy
Landscaping

By 2016, a Coordinating Committee (CERN-Mission Switzerland-State-Fipoi)
will be formed to assist the Organization in its projects of
renovation and construction of its buildings, estimated at several hundred
CHF million.
